In March 2019, lighting designer Nigel Catmur approached TLSPixelite Limited.

Catmur wanted to create a frame around the stage using LED. TLS worked with the BBC Young Dancer technical design team which also included set designer, David Marston and Elstree Light and Power North, to deliver a simple yet effective solution that could be moved around different venues each with its own stage architecture.

The team used 5050 RGB 300 LED tape powered by TLS custom dimmer racks, comprised of DCV DIN rail modules and Mean Well RSP 320-24 PSUs.

TLS’ Alan Reeves explained, “In some venues, we were able to attach tape directly to the proscenium arch. However, in theatres without a conventional proscenium, ELP rigged truss to create a frame for the LED. We also converted the system to silent running mode, which is essential for TV.”
